"Patients who have experienced nephritis or renal syndrome must be familiar with urinary protein. If they have urinary protein, it can damage renal function, leading to renal failure and uremia."; Without urine protein, you can rest assured. Among various proteins, albumin is the most important.
You may not expect that albumin not only harms the kidneys, but may even cause "extreme" and high-risk pregnancies
What is hypoproteinemia?
Large amounts of proteinuria can cause a large amount of plasma protein to be lost from the urine, resulting in less albumin in the blood. Hypoalbuminemia can be diagnosed when plasma albumin is below 30 gL. In addition, poor liver protein synthesis or severe malnutrition can also lead to a decrease in plasma albumin.
Note: The normal plasma albumin of human body is generally 35g/L-50g/L
Hazards of hypoproteinemia
1
The most obvious manifestation of hypoproteinemia is edema.
A decrease in plasma albumin can allow a large amount of water to permeate into tissue spaces, leading to a dystrophic disease characterized by systemic edema, also known as edematous malnutrition. The main manifestation is severe edema, symmetrical on both sides, with the most significant edema in the limbs. Significant depressions can be seen in the areas of edema due to finger pressure, and in severe cases, pleural and abdominal effusion can occur.
Why do hungry children in Africa have such big stomachs? It's edema caused by malnutrition. "We lose too much in our urine, and they eat too little.".
2
Severe hypoproteinemia is prone to infection and is difficult to control.
3
Causes acute renal failure, which is related to increased blood coagulation and blood viscosity. "Low plasma albumin (below 20 gL), such hypoproteinemia, causes our blood to be very viscous and flow very slowly. The first is that it is prone to form embolism, causing critical diseases such as acute renal failure.".
4
"Hypoalbuminemia can make the hair of patients with nephrotic syndrome appear sparse, brittle, withered, and yellow, with skin color?"? Whiteness, muscle wasting, and broad band of white nails.
5
Low plasma albumin often leads to fetal growth retardation and premature infants. This is also a reason why women with urinary protein should become pregnant again after turning negative for 2 years.
