What causes urinary tract infections? What are the treatment methods for urinary tract infections
Urinary tract infections are caused by direct attacks from bacteria (very few fungi, protozoa, viruses). Urinary tract infections are divided into upper urinary tract infections and lower urinary tract infections. Upper urinary tract infections refer to pyelonephritis, while lower urinary tract infections include urethritis and cystitis. Pyelonephritis is divided into acute pyelonephritis and chronic pyelonephritis. It is prone to occur in women.
Over 95% of urinary tract infections are caused by a single bacterium. Among them, 90% of outpatient patients and about 50% of inpatients have Escherichia coli as the pathogen, which can be classified into 140 serotypes. Urinary Escherichia coli is the same type of bacteria as Escherichia coli isolated from patients' feces, and is more commonly seen in asymptomatic or uncomplicated urinary infections such as Proteus, Aeromonas, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Streptococcus faecalis. It is more commonly seen in reinfection and indwelling catheters Complications: Urinary infections caused by candida albicans and cryptococcus neoformans are more common in diabetes and glucocorticoid. Multiple bacterial infections can be seen in indwelling urinary catheters, neurogenic bladder, stones, congenital malformations, and vaginal, intestinal, and urethral fistulas.
Treatment method: Currently, antibiotic and antibacterial treatment is the priority method for treatment. Based on this, our department has developed a series of traditional Chinese medicine decoction and traditional Chinese medicine to differentiate and treat individual physical deficiency, excess, and yin yang. This not only has a good therapeutic effect, but also significantly reduced the number of relapses and played a preventive role.
Treatment cycle: The treatment cycle for chronic urinary tract infection is 4-8 weeks, the treatment cycle for acute pyelonephritis is 2-4 weeks, and the treatment cycle for acute cystitis is 3 days (i.e. antibiotics are continuously used for 3 days). During the treatment cycle, continuous medication should be used without interruption, and the medication should be stopped after the urine analysis test is normal to better play the role of traditional Chinese medicine treatment and prevention
Life precautions:
1. Living habits: Actively exercise, enhance physical fitness, prevent colds, do not stay up late, and do not get tired
2. Dietary habits: You should enter light food and drink over 2000ml of water every day to ensure sufficient urine volume. Increasing urine volume can wash the urethra and promote the excretion of bacteria and toxins
3. Hygienic habits: Women should pay attention to keeping their external genitalia clean, preferably cooled with hot water. Especially during menstruation, pregnancy, and puerperium, hygiene is more important. When taking a shower, try to take a shower and avoid taking a shower
4. Both parties should clean the external genitalia before marriage and urinate once after the end;
5. Prohibit urination and maintain smooth bowel movements
6. Avoid sexual activity during the period of urinary tract infection and within one week after treatment.
