Sexual Health
What are the main routes of syphilis transmission? Syphilis is mainly transmitted through five channels
Syphilis transmission route
1. Sexual contact transmission
Direct sexual contact is the main pathway for sexually transmitted diseases. With frequent sexual intercourse with prostitutes, the risk of infection among prostitutes may increase. The average infection rates for sexual intercourse with prostitutes are 30%, 60%, and 90%. This infection can account for over 95% of all cases. Almost every prostitute suffers from one or more sexually transmitted diseases. The reason for direct contact with sexually transmitted diseases through sexual behavior is that the genitalia can come into direct contact with pathogens; Genital tissue pressure increases, and during sexual activity, both genitals become congested, leading to increased tissue pressure and easy damage, even to epithelial tissue damage that is difficult to see with the naked eye. Pathogens invade the genitals; Open glands are prone to infection, and some of them are prone to inflammation of male urethral glands, prostate, female vestibular glands, and other glands.
2. Maternal to Child Transmission
Many sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis, gonorrhea, AIDS, hepatitis B, chlamydia infection, genital warts, genital herpes, etc. It can be transmitted to the fetus or newborn through the placenta, birth canal, and other means. According to reports, over 90% of HIV infections in infants and children worldwide are transmitted from mother to child. After a pregnant woman is infected with sexually transmitted diseases, pathogens can enter the fetus through the bloodstream, causing fetal diseases, which can lead to stillbirth, stillbirth, spontaneous abortion or premature birth, or serious birth defects. Newborns may be infected through inhalation or direct contact with pathogen secretions in the infected birth canal, and may also be infected during the perinatal period shortly after birth.
3. Bloodborne infection
The main way to transmit AIDS, hepatitis B, or syphilis is through intravenous infusion of infected blood, blood components or blood products, intravenous injection of drugs, and other means. The injection needles, needles, or instruments used by intravenous drug addicts are a major form of blood transmission of HIV.
4. Direct contact and dissemination of non sexual behavior
Infection is mainly caused by direct contact with the patient's diseased tissue or its secretions.
5. Communication through daily contact
Contact with the patient's clothing, bedding, items, towels, appliances, toilets, etc. may lead to infection with sexually transmitted diseases. Gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, some fungal infections, etc. Due to the fact that patients' clothing is often contaminated with genital lesions or secretions, sexually transmitted diseases can be transmitted through towels, bathtubs, clothing, and other items. This mode of transmission often occurs in areas with low levels of culture and hygiene, and bathtubs are usually the most common places to spread diseases.
