Oligospermia refers to the condition where the number of sperm per milliliter of semen is less than 20 million, and the sperm is contained in the semen. The two are not the same. A normal male should ejaculate at around 4 milliliters per ejaculation. It can be seen that the units of semen and sperm are also different.
We should know that a normal male ejaculates around 4 milliliters of semen per ejaculation. When the semen volume is less than 2 milliliters, it can be confirmed as oligospermia. However, it should be noted that oligospermia does not necessarily mean oligospermia. If there is less semen, the total amount of sperm will relatively decrease, but it can be high, that is, there is more sperm per milliliter. When there is too little semen, the alkaline secretion of semen is not enough to dilute the acid secretion in the vagina, thus affecting the sperm motility. Too little semen also affects the sperm entering the uterus, which can also cause male infertility.
The main causes of oligospermia are: frequent sexual activity, which leads to insufficient storage of semen and leads to oligospermia; Long term mental stress and various stress stimuli; Various systemic chronic consumptive diseases, such as tuberculosis and malnutrition; Local lesions of the reproductive system, such as prostatitis, seminal vesiculitis, etc.
Physiological oligospermia usually does not require treatment, and extending the interval between sexual activities is sufficient. Patients with pathological oligospermia should pause sexual activity, receive medication treatment, and pay attention to nutritional supplementation.
