Is cervicitis caused by sexual activity? Two major misconceptions need to be avoided in the treatment of cervicitis
Cervicitis is a common gynecological inflammation that poses a serious threat to women, and there are many factors that can cause the disease. It is directly related to sexual activity, and we should pay attention to reasonable treatment.
Etiology of cervicitis
1. The pathogens of sexually transmitted diseases include Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis, herpes simplex virus, and Mycoplasma genitalium, mainly found in high-risk groups of sexually transmitted diseases.
2. Endogenous pathogens: Some pathogens of cervicitis are the same as those that cause bacterial vaginosis. But the pathogens of some patients are not clear. Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae both infect the columnar epithelium of the cervical canal, spreading along the mucosal surface and causing superficial infection, with the lesion being evident in the cervical canal. In addition to the columnar epithelium of the cervical canal, Neisseria gonorrhoeae often invades the urethral epithelium, paraurethral glands, and vestibular glands.
3. Mechanical stimulation or injury: The occurrence of cervicitis is related to sexual activity. Natural or artificial abortion, diagnostic curettage, and delivery can cause cervical injury and inflammation. Adult women should pay attention to contraception, avoid or reduce artificial abortion surgery, pay attention to postpartum hygiene, and avoid postpartum infection.
4. Chemical stimulation: Washing the vagina with potassium permanganate solution or placing suppositories in the vagina can cause cervicitis.
5. Vaginal foreign body infection: Vaginal foreign body infection causes cervicitis.
6. Excessive cleaning: Women attach great importance to personal hygiene and cleanliness, which is a good habit. However, excessive cleaning of the external genitalia and vagina is often the opposite. It not only fails to prevent the occurrence of diseases, but also provides convenient conditions for the reproduction of pathogenic bacteria. Excessive cleaning can disrupt the normal ecological balance in the vagina, prevent the survival of normal bacterial communities, and suppress pathogens
7. Sexual activity: The occurrence of severe cervicitis is closely related to marital life. Generally, premature sexual intercourse, excessive sexual partners, excessive intensity of marital life, and menstrual intercourse can all lead to women suffering from severe cervicitis.
Prevention of cervicitis
1. Do a good job in family planning, avoid unplanned pregnancies, avoid or avoid induced abortions, take contraceptive measures, and try to avoid mechanical damage to the cervix caused by multiple abortions. At the same time, gynecological surgery operations should be strictly sterile to prevent iatrogenic infections and injuries.
2. Pay attention to hygiene during physiological days, miscarriage days, and postpartum periods. Sexual intercourse and potted plants are strictly prohibited during physiological days and postpartum periods to avoid false entry of pathogenic bacteria.
