Some foreign scientific research institutions and scientists used physical and chemical methods to analyze the air inhaled by bearded people and found that the air filtered by beards contains more than ten substances harmful to human health, including phenol, benzene, toluene, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, acetone, etc.
In the air, the pollution unit of the content of harmful substances is called the "limit allowable concentration". When people with ordinary beards inhale air, the pollution unit is 4.2 limit allowable concentration, and the clean air is much lower than this concentration. For a man with a big beard, the pollution unit when he inhales air is as high as 7.2 limit allowable concentration.
People who both grow beards and like smoking have even more surprising levels of air pollution when they inhale: the pollution unit of people with ordinary beards when they inhale air reaches 24.7 limit allowable concentration; People with big beards inhale air pollution units as high as 49.3 limit allowable concentration. This is because smoke will emit more than 200 kinds of harmful substances when burning.
In addition to polluting the inhaled air, bearded hair will also bring inconvenience to diet, and will often be contaminated with soup or rice grains on the beard. Therefore, from the perspective of human health care, it is better not to leave beard.
How to shave
1. If you have a beard, you should use scissors or scissors to trim your hair first. Electric scissors are the best.
2. Wash your face with exfoliating cleanser. Some people like to wash with hot water. Indeed, heat and moisture will help soften beard and open pores. However, the water temperature should not be too hot. If the water temperature is too hot, the skin will relax, and the water loss will be accelerated.
3. Prepare shaving equipment before washing your face, so that you can start shaving before your beard dries and pores close. If you are using a disposable razor, put it in a cold water bath to soak it (hot water will make the razor expand and blunt).
4. Before applying shaving cream, first drop a few drops of shaving oil onto the palm of your hand, and then rub it onto your beard. This will make the razor more close to your skin, shave more smoothly, and avoid tingling and burning.
5. Apply shaving cream to your face with a brush. The brush will help soften your beard and exfoliate your skin to a certain extent (see the warning section for details). When shaving, it also helps to float the beard on the blade. If you just don't have enough shaving cream, gel or foam, you can use conditioner or professional shaving oil instead. After applying lubricating oil, the effect is better after a period of time. But don't use lumpy soap, because it will leave residue on the blade. Even stainless steel blades will eventually rust. But in an emergency, hand sanitizer can barely help, because the formula of hand sanitizer is different from that of block soap.
6. Select the appropriate blade. Special blades should be selected, but the roughness of beard, skin texture, suitable shaving method and other details should also be considered. Multi-blade razors are recommended for men with particularly heavy beard and sensitive skin (2, 3, 4, 5).
7. Start from one side of the beard, scrape it little by little, and then slowly transition to the other side, so that there will be no place not to scratch. Scrape from top to bottom, each time should be light and short, follow the texture of the skin, try to make the blade parallel to the skin, so it is easier to scrape. Remember to help tighten the skin with the other hand. Also clean the shaver in time to prevent the shaver from being blocked by the beard residue. When cleaning, put the razor into the container containing water and turn it around, and then knock on the side of the container to knock out the residue in the razor. Clean the whole face from top to bottom.
8. Wash the face with warm water, and then check with your fingers to see if there is any scratch. Pay attention to the sideburns, around the mouth and around the nostrils. Apply shaving cream on the area that has not been shaved clean, and then shave it from different angles with a razor (it can penetrate the skin texture longitudinally), but do not go against the texture (see the tips and warnings for details). Pay special attention to the whiskers near the neck and chin, because the whiskers grow in different directions, and it is very likely that you can't shave them clean simply up and down.
9. Clean the face with cold water, pat the water on the face with a clean towel, and then wipe some non-alcoholic lotion. Aloe vera and tea tree oil can prevent skin dryness and shaving injury. However, it is worth noting that the concentration of tea tree oil used must be very low, because tea tree oil itself has a certain degree of irritation to freshly shaved skin.
10. After shaving, soak the face in cold water to relieve the small wounds caused during shaving. Cold water helps to stop bleeding and heal the wounds. On this basis, Shanghai can apply some witch hazel ointment. If the wound is still bleeding, you can add several pieces of toilet paper to stop bleeding.
