What causes testicular asymmetry?
1. Due to trauma

2. Mumps virus
Mumps virus destroys the epithelial cells of seminiferous tubules in the testis, which is also an important factor in the size of male testes, and eventually the testes atrophy.
3. Caused by acute epididymitis
Acute epididymitis is often caused by urinary tract, prostatitis, and seminal vesiculitis extending along the vas deferens to the epididymis, and bloodstream infections are relatively rare. Operation of transurethral instruments, frequent catheterization, and indwelling catheters after prostatectomy can all lead to epididymitis.
4. Caused by congenital diseases
Congenital diseases lead to underdeveloped testicles on one side, typically manifested as small testicles on one side, such as in the infantile type, while compensatory hyperplasia on the other side is slightly larger than in the general population, resulting in larger and smaller testicles. These males have experienced significant differences since childhood.
5. Caused by orchitis
Orchitis is generally caused by bacteria and viruses. Bacterial infection rarely occurs in the testis itself. Because the testis is rich in blood and lymph, it has a great resistance to bacterial infection. Bacterial orchitis is mostly caused by inflammation of the surrounding epididymis, hence it is also known as epididymitis orchitis.
