What kind of body shape does a woman meet men's expectations? The answer may be 'it doesn't look fat, but it feels fleshy'! The survey found that most men do not find slimmer women more attractive. They prefer women who have a slight amount of flesh (body fat content is about 30%), and women who have uneven and uneven body fat - fat is less distributed in the waist, and more in the buttocks and thighs (preferably with a natural large chest and an hourglass shape). This means that these women have a higher body mass index, namely BMI (Body Mass Index, weight divided by height squared, kg/m2), and a smaller waist to hip ratio (WHR, Waist hip ratio). So what information do these two characteristics convey?
Full and plump? For the next generation
For a man who positions a woman as his lifelong partner and mother of his child, he naturally worries more about inheriting his family. He hopes his genes can be passed on smoothly and have healthy offspring. Undoubtedly, these are the results of evolution. The long-term development of humans has taught men that S-shaped women with slightly higher BMI values and smaller waist to hip ratios (those who are hard twisted into an S-shaped shape when taking photos are not considered...) can produce healthier offspring.
Pregnancy, childbirth, and raising children are very energy consuming tasks. As an efficient energy storage material, fat is of course the most important. But compared to other female mammals, human females have a much higher body fat content, so why are human females so special?
Further research found that this is related to human brain capacity - compared with mammals of the same size, humans have much larger brain capacity. Since fat is the main substance that makes up the human brain, it requires women to have a sufficient fat budget to build the next generation of brains. Therefore, the extra body fat and larger brain capacity are not just a coincidence.
Among the fat substances contained in the human body, a kind of unsaturated fat acid called DHA is an important substance in the cerebral cortex, which is very important for the intellectual development of infants. But the human body cannot synthesize DHA itself and can only ingest it from food. Women store them on their buttocks and thighs for feeding the baby's brain during pregnancy. The importance of brain development for offspring is self-evident, which also explains why men in evolution prefer S-shaped women with higher BMI values and smaller waist and buttocks.
