Can B-ultrasound detect hydrosalpinx? Commonly used in the three major examination methods
Hydrosalpinx is a common gynecological disease, and there are also many manifestations after its appearance. We must promptly go to a regular hospital for examination based on our physical changes.
Symptoms of hydrosalpinx
1. Lower abdominal pain: Female friends with hydrosalpinx experience some degree of abdominal pain symptoms, mostly hidden discomfort.
2. Dysmenorrhea: Hydrosalpinx is generally caused by inflammation of the fallopian tubes. If left untreated, the inflammation spreads and the pelvis becomes congested. Patients are prone to experiencing symptoms of dysmenorrhea, which usually occur one week before menstruation. The closer the physiological day, the more obvious the pain symptoms become
3. Irregular menstruation: Hydrosalpinx, increased menstrual blood volume, frequent menstrual irregularities, seriously affecting the normal work and life of female friends.
4. Infertility: Female infertility is the most severe symptom of hydrosalpinx, which impairs the normal pickup function of the female fallopian tubes and hinders the normal union of sperm and eggs with fertilized eggs.
5. Other symptoms: Hydrosalpinx can lead to increased vaginal discharge and painful sexual intercourse.
Can ultrasound detect hydrosalpinx?
The accumulation of water in the fallopian tubes can be detected by ultrasound, mainly during the acute phase of fallopian tube inflammation. The inflammation of the fallopian tubes leads to blockage of the fimbriae, and the inflammatory exudate accumulates in the lumen of the fallopian tubes. Ultrasound shows abnormal echoes on one or both sides of the uterus. The fallopian tubes become thicker, with sausage-like features and low or punctate echoes within the lumen.
However, it should be noted that not all hydrosalpinx can be detected by ultrasound. The amount of hydrosalpinx varies among different individuals. Some patients have a large amount of hydrosalpinx, which is a typical sausage like appearance. This condition is easier to detect under ultrasound, but others have a smaller amount of hydrosalpinx. Due to the thickening of the fallopian tubes during acute inflammation, a small amount of hydrosalpinx will be scattered and distributed in the thickened lumen under the influence of gravity due to changes in body position, which is generally difficult to detect, Some accumulated water is gradually absorbed by the body as inflammation progresses, leaving only a hollow shell. Under ultrasound, it is even more apparent that there is no accumulated water. Therefore, ultrasound diagnosis of hydrosalpinx is limited and often cannot be detected.
