In this study, 100 young male acne patients over 20 years of age were selected, and another 100 men of the same age without acne were selected as controls. The researchers divided the patients into four groups according to the severity of acne and investigated their insulin resistance. The results showed that the incidence of insulin resistance in the acne group was 22%, twice that in the control group. This research result published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Dermatology shows that young male acne patients are most likely to be accompanied by insulin resistance, and they are at a higher risk of developing hyperinsulinemia or type 2 diabetes in the future. Experts believe that such patients should be followed up for a long time to find and correct their insulin resistance and prevent other diseases.
