It is not difficult to experience more happiness at work. You only need to know the rules to do it.
Recently, a reader showed me some "happier life rules" published by various people in various forms. Here is my opinion on those rules, because they also apply to the workplace:
1. Don't compare yourself with others.
Everyone, I mean everyone starts from a different place, and everyone will go on their own journey. You don't know how other people's journey will lead them, so it is a waste of time to compare.
2. Never be obsessed with things you can't control.
Although it is often very important to understand other things - such as the economy, the market you sell and the actions that others may take, your attention should be focused on the things you can really control, namely 1) your own thoughts and 2) your own actions.
3. Know and maintain your own personal boundaries and boundaries.
Although sometimes your work seems to be the most important part of your world, if you let the work situation promote to infringe your privacy and integrity, you are killing a part of yourself.
4. Don't make too much commitment to yourself or your team.
It is good to be enthusiastic and willing to go out of the "extra mile", but to make a commitment that you or your team can't reasonably achieve is just a way to create failure and disappointment.
5. Remember that you have the same amount of time per day as others.
You may feel that you have no time and you need more time, but the simple fact is that when the day starts, you have a fair share of time: 24 hours. No one has more time than you, so don't complain.
6. Don't take yourself too seriously, others don't.
The ability to laugh at your own small shortcomings will not only make you happier as a person, but also make you stronger, more influential and more attractive to others. If you can't laugh at yourself, others will laugh at you behind your back.
7. Do more daydreaming than less.
The idea that daydreaming and work are mutually exclusive belongs to the 20th century. This is the time when you let your thoughts wander. At this time, you are more likely to have unique and competitive insights.
8. Don't worry about hatred. It's not worth worrying about.
Hate is an emotional parasite that erodes your energy and health. If there is something wrong in the world and you can change it, take action. If you can't take action, you'd better forgive and forget.
