Why does being too thin lead to amenorrhea? Beware of excessive weight loss leading to amenorrhea
Amenorrhea is a manifestation of abnormal menstruation, which seriously affects the normal life of female friends, especially poses a serious threat to physical health. Pay attention to the factors of amenorrhea and prevent it reasonably.
Amenorrhea caused by slimming
In the human brain, there is the hypothalamus, which includes the feeding axis and the satiety axis. When a person experiences anorexia or subjective compulsion to reduce their appetite, the cerebral cortex forcibly suppresses it. So far, dysfunction has occurred in the two appetite centers of the hypothalamus, resulting in weight loss. The secretion of luteinizing hormone releasing hormone in the hypothalamus is reduced, and the secretion of luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone by the hypothalamic pituitary gland is also reduced, resulting in amenorrhea.
Losing weight and controlling weight are the causes of anorexia nervosa. After the occurrence of anorexia nervosa, weight loss is rapid, systemic metabolism is slow, and weight and menstrual recovery are very difficult. Because I lose my appetite at this time, I am not interested in all kinds of food. Even if I reluctantly increase my appetite, my stomach will slow down and expand.
This type of amenorrhea often occurs in obese women, some of whom are only high school students, which is a tragedy of their blind weight loss. About half of these patients can recover their weight by eliminating the underlying causes of the disease, while the other half can be cured with ovulation promoting drugs.
A few cases are stubborn and difficult to treat. Overall, the shorter the duration of amenorrhea, the faster it is to seek treatment, and the more opportunities for treatment. Generally, patients with amenorrhea for less than 3 years have ideal treatment outcomes.
