What type of cervicitis is the most severe? What tests are needed to suspect cervicitis
Cervicitis is a common gynecological inflammation that has a significant impact on women's bodies. After falling ill, we should also go to the hospital for timely examination and reasonable treatment based on our own condition.
Types of cervicitis
1. Cervical erosion: Cervical erosion is the most common chronic cervicitis, manifested as a fine-grained red area on the appearance of the outer cervical opening. This is due to the stimulation of inflammatory secretions, which causes the squamous epithelial cells of the outer cervical canal mucosa to detach and cover the columnar epithelium. From the surface, the color is bright red, smooth, and uneven in height.
2. Cervical hypertrophy: Cervical hypertrophy is a long-term stimulation of chronic inflammation, including cervical congestion, edema, glandular and interstitial hyperplasia. Cervical hypertrophy is to some extent an inflammatory change caused by pathogens infecting the cervical mucosa, including mycoplasma, chlamydia, bacteria, viruses, etc.
3. Cervical polyps: Under the long-term stimulation of chronic inflammation, cervical polyps proliferate locally in the cervical mucosa, which has a drainage effect on the uterus. The proliferating mucosa gradually protrudes from the cervical opening, forming polyps. The surface of polyps is covered by columnar epithelium with abundant microvessels, which are bright red in color and soft and fragile. Therefore, gently touching can cause bleeding and often lead to infection with ulcers. In addition, there is a type of polyp from the cervical and vaginal part, which is covered by a layer of squamous epithelium on the surface. Due to the fact that the stroma is mainly composed of fibrous connective tissue, the color is light red, the texture is flexible, the base is wide, and the disease site is shallow.
4. Cervical glandular cyst: Cervical glandular cyst, also known as Nabot cyst, abbreviated as a cyst. It is a small bluish white vesicle protruding from the surface of the cervix, and the foam contains colorless frozen matter. If infected, the appearance of small vesicles is mostly white or light yellow. During the healing process of cervical erosion, the cyst is covered by newly formed squamous epithelium, which extends into the glandular duct and blocks it. The proliferation or scar formation of connective tissue around the glandular ducts can also compress the glandular ducts, hinder the drainage of glandular secretions, and accumulate to form cysts.
5. Endometritis of the cervix: Inflammation of the cervix. Inflammation is limited to the cervical mucosa and its underlying tissues. Clinically, it can be seen that the cervical and vaginal parts are smooth, but the cervical opening is congested or blocked by purulent secretions.
Symptoms of cervicitis
1. Increased white discharge: White discharge usually appears as milky white or light yellow purulent discharge, bloody or mixed with blood lineage.
