Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease characterized by infection caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae (referred to as Neisseria gonorrhoeae). It is an ancient and common sexually transmitted disease. In recent years, the incidence rate of sexually transmitted diseases ranks first in China. The incidence of sexually transmitted diseases in China has also been increasing year by year. With the increase of patients with sexually transmitted diseases, personal protection against sexually transmitted diseases is particularly important. In sexual pathogen clinics, it is often found that many patients do not understand the transmission routes and prevention methods of sexually transmitted diseases, resulting in some people not knowing where the disease comes from after suffering from sexually transmitted diseases; Due to a lack of understanding of prevention methods, sexually transmitted diseases can spread within families, making it difficult for their spouses and children to survive. Some families may even disintegrate as a result, causing instability in their families and society. Therefore, understanding the transmission routes and prevention measures of sexually transmitted diseases is very important.
There are two ways of transmission of gonorrhea
How are sexually transmitted diseases transmitted? Many people know the great harm of sexually transmitted diseases and are afraid of contracting them, but they cannot control their lower body. Some men like to cheat on young women outside, do not pay attention to reproductive health, and have sex with their wives at home, which can easily lead to sexually transmitted diseases. Let's understand how gonorrhea is transmitted!
Gonorrhea is a purulent infection of the urinary and reproductive systems caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Under certain conditions, Neisseria gonorrhoeae can also infect the eyes, pharynx, rectum, and pelvic cavity, with individual systemic infections occurring. The incubation period is generally 2-10 days, with an average of 3-5 days. Common symptoms in males include urethritis, including frequent urination, urgency, pain, redness, swelling, and itching of the urethral opening, as well as discharge of purulent secretions. The common symptom among women is cervicitis, where vaginal discharge (vaginal discharge) increases and turns yellow, but many infected individuals do not have any symptoms.
1. Sexual contact infection: mainly refers to sexual intercourse and other sexually transmitted infections. Male gonorrhea is almost always caused by sexual contact, while female gonorrhea can also be directly transmitted through sexual intercourse or through other means of infection. Gonorrhea patients are the source of infection, and sexual contact is the main mode of transmission of gonorrhea. The transmission speed is fast, and the transmission rate is high. After infection, the disease can onset within 3-5 days. The infected population is mainly young and middle-aged.
2. Non sexual contact transmission (indirect transmission): This situation is relatively rare, mainly due to contact with the patient's secretions containing gonococcal bacteria or contaminated equipment, such as towels, foot cloths, foot basins, clothes, and even the toilet seat, which can be transmitted. Especially for women (including young girls), due to their short urethra and reproductive tract, they are easily infected. When a newborn passes through the birth canal of a mother with gonorrhea, the eyes can also cause neonatal gonococcal ophthalmia. Pregnant women with gonorrhea can cause amniotic cavity infections, including fetal infections.
