The uterus is an important organ in the female body, and abnormal phenomena can also occur. Uterine malformation is a disease that we should pay attention to. If it is abnormal, it must be checked in a regular hospital immediately.
What is Uterine malformation
Uterine malformation is one of the most common genital malformations. The normal uterus is oval in shape with an inverted pear. However, there are also Uterine malformation with arched uterus or two halves inside. Some patients with Uterine malformation do not have any conscious symptoms, and there is no abnormal performance in menstruation, sexual life, pregnancy, childbirth, etc. They are not found for life. They are occasionally found during physical examination, which is very rare in clinical practice.
Uterine malformation will reduce the growth space of the fetus, especially the occurrence of premature birth and abortion. If the uterus can fully expand during pregnancy, there will generally be no major problems. However, it should be noted that Uterine malformation is prone to fetal malposition, so expectant mothers can consider Caesarean section, or Natural childbirth if the fetus is normal.
Type of Uterine malformation
1. Primordial uterus: also known as trace uterus. This is because the development of the accessory renal ducts on both sides stops shortly after merging. This uterus is small, only 1-3 centimeters long, without endometrium, without menstruation, and often without a vagina.
2. Mediastinal uterus: The accessory renal ducts on both sides have fully converged, but the mediastinum has not degenerated. The appearance of the uterus is normal, and the uterine cavity is divided into two parts. Incomplete degeneration of the mediastinum leads to the formation of an incomplete mediastinal uterus. When the mediastinum extends to the vagina, it can also form a vaginal mediastinum.
3. Congenital absence of uterus: the middle segment of the accessory mesonephric duct on both sides is not developed, and the uterus cannot be synthesized. Patients often have no vagina, but their ovaries develop normally and Secondary sex characteristic are not affected.
4. Bicornuate uterus: most of the end of the accessory mesonephric tube is fused, and the mediastinum degenerates, forming a single cervix and a single vagina. The bottom of the uterus is incomplete, and the shape of the uterus is bicorn, so it is called Bicornuate uterus or saddle uterus.
5. Double uterus: Double uterus, double cervix, double vagina. It is because the accessory renal ducts on both sides are not suitable.
6. Unicornuate uterus: one side of the accessory mesonephric duct on both sides is fully developed, and the other side is not fully developed or perforated. It can be a residual horn uterus, which only has a uterine cavity and no uterine opening.
7. Dysplasia of uterus: also known as Uterine hypoplasia. After the merger of the accessory mesonephric ducts on both sides, the development stops for a short period of time. The cervix is relatively long, with a smaller outer opening, and the uterus is normally smaller. There are often infertility, Hypomenorrhea or irregular menstruation.
