1. Intravascular headache
This type is the most common, accounting for approximately 70%. 2. Tension headache
This type of headache accounts for 25% of sexual intercourse headaches. Sexual activity begins in the early stages, with the climax period being the most prominent. Appearing as a complete head or occipital dull pain or tightness, lasting for several hours to days.
3. Low intracranial pressure headache
This type is rare, accounting for approximately 5%. The patient has a sudden attack of headache, which lasts for 2-3 weeks and naturally improves. If sexual intercourse occurs again, it may recur. Headache is often located under the occipital bone and is related to posture. Headache worsens in a vertical position, accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
The occurrence of headaches is related to factors such as sexual psychology, sexual physiology, sexual knowledge, and sexual habits. The pain caused by sexual excitement, muscle spasms in the head and neck, accelerated blood circulation, elevated blood pressure, and vasospasm during sexual intercourse. If there are blood vessel stenosis, it will cause poor blood circulation in the brain. In addition, blood concentration in the reproductive system during sexual excitement can cause brain pain.
