What is the function of prostate? It undertakes very important physiological functions
The prostate with great responsibility
Although the prostate is inconspicuous, concealed and small, it bears very important physiological functions. Prostate gland is a chestnut with great responsibility. Its functions mainly include the following four points.
1. Secreting prostatic fluid
The prostate can produce about 2ml of thin prostatic fluid every day, which is an important part of semen. It not only plays an important role in maintaining the normal function of sperm, but also plays a very important role in fertility and can promote the formation of sperm and eggs.
2. Endocrine function
As an endocrine gland, the prostate secretes prostaglandins, which are released in blood and tissues and organs, and play an important role in endocrine, reproductive, digestive, urinary and nervous systems. However, prostaglandins not only come from the prostate, but also produce many tissue cells.
3. Control urination function
The prostate surrounds the urethra. When there is an urge to urinate, the bladder forces the contraction of the urinary muscle. The prostate participates in the urethra, including muscle relaxation, and urination is smooth. If the prostate is ill, such as hyperplasia of the prostate, the urine will be left in the bladder due to poor excretion, and eventually get sick.
4. Transport semen
Two ejaculatory tubes pass through the middle of the prostate. During ejaculation, the muscles of the prostate and seminal vesicles contract, and the semen in the vas deferens and seminal vesicles is pressed into the urethra through the ejaculatory tube, which can be discharged from the body.
