What is the cause of prostate cysts? Prostate cysts are divided into two types: congenital and acquired
Some patients suspect prostatitis and undergo B-ultrasound examination, and doctors may sometimes discover prostate cysts. Faced with such results, some patients are very worried and don't know what prostate cysts are? Generally speaking, cystic changes are caused by congenital or acquired prostate disease.
(1) A true prostate cyst: The prostate gland is obstructed during embryonic development, leading to narrowing of the prostate duct, obstruction, and gradual retention of its contents. It is classified as a persistent prostate cyst.
(2) Congenital cyst: mesonephric duct and mesonephric paraduct are dysplasia, and the lumen expands to form cyst. Pararenal duct cysts are usually located in the posterior center of the prostate, while renal duct cysts are located on both sides. This type of cyst does not actually start from the prostate, but often adheres to the posterior wall of the bladder. Its volume can usually grow very large, compressing the bladder neck and causing difficulty in urination; Compressing the rectum can cause anal swelling and difficulty in defecation. Congenital prostate cysts are often accompanied by congenital diseases such as urethral cracks, cryptorchidism, and renal hypoplasia.
(3) Acquired cyst: Due to the tenacity of the prostate matrix, incomplete or intermittent obstruction of the acini gradually thickens the epithelium of the acini, leading to the occurrence of a persistent cyst. It can be located in any part of the prostate or protrude to the bladder neck, with a diameter of 1-2cm.
(4) Parasitic cyst: Chronic inflammation of the prostate duct and surrounding areas caused by parasites, or granulomatous hyperplasia forming cysts. The above-mentioned cysts are most common in persistent prostate cysts and can occur in any part of the gland.
(5) Inflammatory cyst: chronic inflammation of the prostate causes hyperplasia of connective tissue, which leads to stricture of the prostate duct and retention of secretions to form cysts.
