Most patients with prostatitis may experience infertility symptoms, but many men do not fully understand the relationship between prostatitis and male infertility. Therefore, when treating prostatitis, they neglect the treatment of infertility, which has brought great impact on themselves.
Prostatitis is closely related to male infertility, as described below:
1. The pH in the normal prostate fluid is 6.5, and when suffering from prostatitis, it will rise to 7-8. At the same time, the content of zinc and citric acid will also decrease. The decrease in zinc content will reduce enzyme activity, which will affect sperm metabolism and movement, leading to male infertility. This is one of the relationships between prostatitis and male infertility.

2. After prostatitis, the secretion of semen liquefaction promoting factors by the prostate will decrease, resulting in a prolonged sperm liquefaction time, which will lead to a decline in sperm vitality.
3. Mycoplasma infection can cause prostatitis and infertility. In a group of male infertility sperm cultures, 85% of them were found to be positive for Mycoplasma, while in the fertility group, only 23% were positive. When mycoplasma infection occurs, sperm motility decreases and the number of sperm decreases, resulting in an increase in the amount of malformed sperm.
4. After prostatitis, the secretion of IgG and IgA in the prostaglandins increases. These substances are immune mediators that cause infertility and are related to the form of antisperm antibodies, thereby affecting fertility.
After understanding the relationship between prostatitis and male infertility, men should be treated promptly after discovering that they have prostatitis, otherwise it can easily lead to infertility.
