Nine out of ten women have urinary tract infections! Why are women prone to urinary tract infections
I believe many women have experienced frequent urination, urgency, and incomplete urination... There are also many people who suffer from recurrent urinary tract infections. It is understood that the incidence rate of urinary tract infection among women is almost 9 out of 10 women who have experienced urinary tract infection. Why is this happening?
1、 Female urethra is short and easily invaded by bacteria
Firstly, it is related to the female reproductive structure. The female urethral opening is located near the perineum, and bacteria are prone to invasion. The sweat glands in the female external genitalia are also developed, causing excessive bacterial growth and urinary tract infections when sweating or stopping urination for a long time. The main reason for urinary tract infection is that bacteria invade the urethra. Many bacteria enter the urinary system retrogradely from the urethral orifice. The female urethral structure improves the probability of bacteria entering the urinary tract from the urethral orifice. Women are prone to urinary tract infection if they do not pay attention to health in sexual life and their bodies are excessively tired.
2、 Urinary tract malformation
Some women may have hygiene habits, but what are the reasons for their susceptibility to urinary tract infections? This group of women may have abnormalities in their urinary tract and basic diseases of the urinary system. Common cases include bladder/ureteral reflux, ureteral obstruction, urolithiasis, etc. Due to the obstruction of the process of urine excretion, it remains in the body for a long time, and bacteria in the urine remain and multiply, leading to urinary tract infections.
3、 Self disease
People with poor self resistance, or basic diseases such as diabetes and immune dysfunction are prone to urinary tract infection. Their physical quality is worse than that of ordinary people, and they are vulnerable to bacterial attacks.
4、 Unhygienic sexual activity
There are more female patients with urinary tract infections, and among them, there are more sexually active or menopausal women. Why? Sexual activity itself is prone to spreading diseases. If women do not pay attention to hygiene and cleanliness during sexual activity, they are prone to spreading bacteria or infecting themselves. Women during menopause experience a significant decrease in keratinocytes, a decrease in their ability to clean the vagina, and bacterial invasion, making them more susceptible to illness than young women.
Can urinary tract infections lead to sexual activity
Most patients who are concerned about this issue are afraid of spreading pathogens. There are two types of urinary tract infections, one caused by ordinary bacteria and the other by special bacteria.
For urinary tract infection caused by common bacteria, the common pathogen is Escherichia coli, which is generally not infectious. However, during sexual activity, bacteria are more likely to enter the urinary tract of the opposite sex, increasing the chance of urinary tract infections. Therefore, during treatment for common bacterial infections, sexual activity should be avoided as much as possible. Meanwhile, for patients themselves, sexual activity may also increase the number of bacteria in the urinary tract, which may exacerbate their own infection. It is recommended to avoid sexual activity during treatment.
