Recently, I met a very extreme patient with nephrotic syndrome. Because of the obvious edema, he was quite strict with his own diet. Every day, millet porridge is added with some boiled carrots, cabbage, and basically no oil, salt, onion, ginger, garlic, or seasoning. Add some vegetables and fruit juice to drink. It is said that there is stasis on the body to detoxify. Don't eat any meat, let alone beef and mutton, bean products or seafood.
I admire her self-control from the bottom of my heart, and I am also worried that if she continues to eat like this, the whole person will wither soon! In this way, the body can fall when the wind blows, and without mentioning the disease resistance ability, you can't stand stably.
In fact, she is not alone in eating like this. Is she responsible for herself or not? Today we will talk about the diet precautions for nephrotic syndrome.
1) It's right to limit salt in your diet!
Nephrotic syndrome patients generally have edema, some serious, some mild, because high salt diet will aggravate edema, so it is right to put less salt and eat less high salt foods, such as pickles, preserved fish and bacon, Salted duck egg, ham, etc.
Generally, about 3g of salt per day. If you don't put salt, 1g of salt equals 5ml of soy sauce, then 10-15ml of soy sauce is also acceptable.
Because the low-salt diet is very difficult to achieve, but it is very important, so you can put a proper amount of onions, ginger, garlic, and fresh pepper for seasoning, so as to better implement the low-salt diet, which is no problem.
Some people have heard some traditional Chinese medicine saying that onions, ginger, garlic and chili peppers are irritating food that can't be eaten, so many people are forced to use "autumn stone" instead of salt because they can't eat it with low salt. Modern autumn stone is actually made of salt, which is still salt in essence. They eat and eat without doing a good job of low salt. What's the use?
2) Dietary protein can be moderate
The patients with nephrotic syndrome lost a large amount of protein in urine, resulting in plasma albumin far below the normal level. Therefore, some people are afraid of eating too much and leaking too much. Like the patient just said, they simply don't eat any meat. The other extreme is that some patients and their families eat meat, eggs, milk and other high-protein foods in order to supplement albumin.
Neither of the two extremes is right: the former is extremely easy to cause malnutrition and is not conducive to recovery; The latter extreme, too high protein diet increases the burden on the kidney.
In fact, patients with nephrotic syndrome with normal renal function can eat 1.0 g/kg/day of protein, and meat, eggs, milk, and soy products are all high-quality protein, which can be eaten in an appropriate amount. This will not increase the burden on the kidney, but also ensure nutrition. Abnormal renal function requires lower protein intake.
3) Limit water in diet
Patients with obvious edema need to limit the amount of water in their diet. Generally, the amount of liquid in a day is: urine+(500~750ml). If the edema has subsided and the renal function is normal, you can drink water normally.
4) Eat less animal fat
Because nephrotic syndrome patients usually have hyperlipidemia, in order to reduce the impact on the cardiovascular system, we should eat less animal oil, margarine and other saturated fatty acid foods, such as fat thick animal parts.
Food oil can be 30ml a day. Choose olive oil, canola oil, sunflower oil and other vegetable oils, which are rich in unsaturated fatty acids.
And can eat some dietary fiber, vitamin rich diet, such as oatmeal, fruit, vegetables.
