Six kinds of drugs can cause male impotence
1. Antihypertensive drugs have caused the most reports of ED. Now it is generally believed that among antihypertensive drugs, diuretics and β- Receptor blockers.
2. Gastrointestinal drugs that are widely used, cimetidine, ranitidine, and nisatidine, are mainly used to treat peptic ulcer. More and more cases report that they can cause sexual dysfunction. For example, young men who take cimetidine for a long time may have ED, loss of libido and breast development.
3. Antidepressants. Among the commonly used antidepressants, imipramine, amitriptyline, clomipramine, and new selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors can cause erectile dysfunction, ejaculation abnormalities, and lack of sexual desire.
4. Psychostimulants and narcotics. The most common are alcohol, nicotine, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, etc.
5. Antitumor drugs. The damage of anti-tumor drugs to gonads is easy to be ignored. Among them, cyclophosphamide, nitrogen mustard, vincristine, cytarabine and other drugs can cause erectile dysfunction or sperm deficiency in men, while women will have menstrual disorders and menopause.
6. Prostate drugs. Drugs for treating prostatic hyperplasia, such as 5- α Reductase inhibitors (trade name: Baoliezhi) also have side effects of erectile dysfunction and decreased ejaculation. In addition, commonly used drugs for the treatment of prostate cancer, such as anti-androgen drugs (Fuzhier, etc.), will affect sexual desire, penis erection, ejaculation, etc. by affecting the secretion of androgen.
However, experts said that the impact of drugs on sexual function is generally transient, that is, it will have an impact during the use of drugs or within a short time after use, and will gradually recover later.
