Sexual dysfunction may be an early signal of heart disease. For a long time, scientists have suspected that male sexual dysfunction (ED) is associated with heart health. According to the latest report of the British Daily Mail, a new study from Suzhou University published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology confirmed that ED may be an early signal of heart disease. The new research results of 12 "ED and Heart Disease Association Studies" involving nearly 37000 men show that compared with men with normal sexual life, ED men have a 48% higher risk of heart disease and a higher mortality rate. This risk may be independent of conventional cardiovascular disease risk factors such as obesity, smoking, diabetes and hypertension. Experts said that erectile function is the weather vane and barometer of male health, and ED is the local manifestation of various systemic diseases, which can occur 2-3 years before coronary heart disease. Previously, the Mayo Clinic of the United States found that improving lifestyle can help alleviate the condition of ED. Experts suggest that active exercise or improving diet (eating more whole grain food, fruits and vegetables, nuts and olive oil) can improve the condition of ED by 10%. Taking statins can improve ED by 12%. Treatment of ED can help prevent or improve the condition of heart disease.
