Is having sex twice a week beneficial? Regular sex can reduce the risk of heart disease
A study targeting middle-aged people in the United States shows that having sex twice a week halves the risk of heart disease.
Healthy sex can change a family's unchanging lifestyle. Medical experts have found through long-term scientific research and clinical trials that sex has a huge promoting effect on physical health. A long-term study by the New England Institute in Massachusetts, USA, shows that having sex twice a week is very beneficial for the heart health of middle-aged and elderly men, reducing their risk of heart disease by half.
It is understood that this study lasted for 16 years and involved over a thousand men aged 40-70. Before the start of the study, the interviewed men underwent a comprehensive physical examination to record any signs of heart disease. Afterwards, they need to record their weekly sexual frequency. The results showed that compared to those who only had sex for a month or more, those who had sex at least twice a week had a 45% lower risk of developing heart disease.
Researchers suggest that regularly enjoying sex can help men reduce stress, gain social support, and benefit both physically and mentally. They also suggest that clinical doctors, when assessing the risk of heart disease in middle-aged and elderly men, should not only consider age, weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol indicators, but also understand the patient's sexual activity. But this study did not target women, so it is impossible to understand whether sexual activity is beneficial for women's hearts.
In addition, sexual activity also has benefits for the male prostate gland. The National Cancer Institute found that men who ejaculate five times a week have a significantly reduced risk of prostate cancer. The University of Wilkes in Pennsylvania has also found that having sex once or twice a week in winter can improve immunity and reduce the risk of various colds.
