How to treat early syphilis? What should be paid attention to during early syphilis treatment
There are many reasons for sexually transmitted diseases, but I never expected a man to become dementia, and it was syphilis that caused the trouble!
Lao Li is 42 years old and runs a small business in the countryside. A year ago, his family discovered that Lao Li's memory had severely decreased. I can't do business at all.
Slowly. Lao Li couldn't take care of himself, and later on, he developed urinary incontinence. Mr. Li's wife said that her husband feels completely different. Sometimes he would climb up walls or roofs, sometimes lie in bed and spit at the ceiling. Unexplained family members thought he was mentally ill.
The family sent Lao Li to a local psychiatric hospital and was diagnosed with schizophrenia, but Lao Li took many medications to no avail. After more than a month of hospitalization, Lao Li's condition turned out to be severe.
Watching his well behaved husband become insane, his wife reluctantly brought Lao Li to the hospital for treatment of memory impairment and dementia.
Based on experience, the neurologist conducted a syphilis serological test on Mr. Li and the result was positive, indicating that Mr. Li had previously been infected with syphilis. Subsequently, magnetic resonance imaging and lumbar puncture examination were performed on Lao Li, and the results showed that he was suffering from "neurosyphilis". This disease is medically known as paralytic dementia and is a very rare disease.
Only 5% to 10% of patients with syphilis eventually develop into paralytic dementia. Paralytic dementia generally occurs 2 to 30 years after initial infection, with onset ages mostly ranging from 30 to 45 years old, with more males than females, with a ratio of approximately 3:1. The early symptoms of patients mainly manifest as personality changes, such as recklessness, irregular clothing, exaggerated delusions, and manic tendencies. Some patients have symptoms such as anxiety and lack of concentration in the early stages. Subsequently, the memory of recent events decreases, judgment and calculation abilities decrease, attention is not focused, self-control is insufficient, and eventually dementia occurs. 10% of patients have seizures.
Syphilis patients generally seek treatment in a dermatology department. However, when memory loss and intellectual decline occur, patients should consider whether they have neurosyphilis and seek medical attention from a neurology department for syphilis serology and brain magnetic resonance imaging tests. Early diagnosis and effective treatment should be sought.
How to treat early syphilis?
Early syphilis develops after a 3-week incubation period after being immersed in spirochetes. Initially immersed in a dark red color that is the size of a grain of rice, it gradually swells up and becomes a hard nodule after 2 weeks, accompanied by erosion, ulcers, and exudation of serous fluid, known as subhard prickly heat.
