How to provide children with correct sex education? What should parents pay attention to when providing sex education to their children
Due to the influence of traditional ideas, many parents in China have remained silent on sex education, resulting in children having little understanding of sex and even taking the path of crime. Parents must master the correct methods of sex education and cannot simply procrastinate.
How to provide children with correct sex education?
1. Conduct sex education before the age of 3
Parents should express their love for their children in a reasonable way, teach them how to treat their bodies, and influence their attitudes towards sex and education, which will affect their children's future attitudes towards sex. Children should be given sufficient warmth and caress at birth to create a sense of security, establish trust with others, and achieve happiness. Parents are generous in informing their children about scientific knowledge, candid communication, and topics related to sex.
2. Knowing Your Body at 3-6 Years Old
After the age of three, a child's neurophysiology gradually develops and matures, and sexual exploration activities naturally begin, which is a normal physiological phenomenon. Parents and teachers can tell children the scientific names and functions of each organ through children's body picture books, videos, and human models, so that they can learn and love their bodies from a young age. Most parents are embarrassed to say the name of their reproductive organs to their children during the education process. In fact, as long as they naturally say the name of their vagina or penis, they can proceed with the next step of family sex education. When showering a child, tell them that their private parts should not be touched or peeked at by others, nor should they be touched or peeked at by others.
3. Identifying sexual assault signals at the age of 6-8
There are many abnormal people in modern society, and preventing child sexual assault is the most important lesson in sex education. Parents need to improve their children's self-protection awareness and minimize the likelihood of harm to their children. If someone makes uncomfortable physical contact with their child, requests a hug or touch, takes pictures of their private parts with their phone, or steals their private parts while family members are not around, they must refuse and then run to crowded places to seek help from others to protect themselves.
4. Adolescence
During adolescence, teach children about the morphology and physiology of male and female reproductive organs, so that they can understand the phenomena of menstruation, ejaculation, and health knowledge, and correctly face the problem of masturbation. Parents and teachers should provide correct guidance, provide calm and straightforward normal communication, develop pure friendship between classmates, and prevent premature love or sexual behavior. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen self-protection education for girls. Schools can borrow materials such as textbooks or videos for sex education.
