In terms of sexuality, men not only focus on their own persistence, but also on the health of their semen, as the quality of semen determines the quality of pregnancy and offspring. In order to give birth to high-quality babies, men want to have high-quality and healthy sperm. So, besides using hospitals, what other methods can be used to determine the quality of semen?
1. The taste of semen
Semen has a taste, as mentioned earlier, freshly ejaculated semen has a fishy odor. Of course, some people also say it's seafood, especially the fishy smell of fish, while others say it's the taste of chestnut flowers (sold in traditional Chinese medicine pharmacies). The reason for this odor is that the polyamines contained in the secreted prostate fluid are oxidized by air, producing a fishy odor. The longer the ejaculation cycle, the greater the odor.
2. Semen liquefaction time
We have learned from the previous section that liquefied semen and newly ejaculated semen have different colors. In addition, there are different shapes. The newly ejaculated semen is frozen and gradually turns into liquid. The process of turning into liquid is called semen liquefaction. According to the experiment, under normal circumstances, semen will turn into a semi transparent liquefied state after about 30 minutes. If it has not completely turned into jelly after this period of time
3. Quantity of semen
The first step is to check the semen volume. Don't think that more semen is better. Generally speaking, a volume of 2-6 milliliters is normal. However, the duration of abstinence can also affect semen volume. People who abstain for a long time have more semen, while those who have frequent sexual intercourse have less semen. Usually, if it exceeds 6 milliliters, it is considered that there is too much semen, less than 1 milliliter, and too little semen. This is only a measure of ejaculation volume. Therefore, when the hospital conducts a semen test, it will tell the patient to take semen after 4-5 days, making the test results relatively accurate.
4. The color of semen
The color of semen is also related to storage time. The newly injected semen is grayish white or grayish yellow, slightly sticky, and has a fishy taste. But liquefied semen is generally milky white or yellow, mostly translucent. Different ejaculation cycles and ages can also affect the color of semen. People who only ejaculate once for a long time have darker semen color, while elderly people have less semen, which is yellow and darker in color, and the quality of sperm is weaker.
5. Semen viscosity
Many infertile men are caused by the influence of semen viscosity on sperm activity. So, how to determine the viscosity of semen? After the semen has completely liquefied, use a straw to suck a little semen at one end and hold the other end with your hand. Place it naturally downwards without the need for external force to allow the semen to descend on its own. If the viscosity is normal drop by drop; If it is in the drawing state, the viscosity is too high. Men with incomplete or non liquefied semen have relatively higher semen viscosity, lower sperm motility, and more infertility.
