How to diagnose the latent period of syphilis? Five diagnostic methods for the latent period of syphilis
Among Class B infectious diseases, the top five are syphilis, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, gonorrhea and dysentery. Among them, 3517 cases of syphilis ranked first. Since July, syphilis has ranked first among Class B infectious diseases for three consecutive months. In the dermatology clinics of many hospitals in Hangzhou, syphilis patients have also increased significantly in recent months.
Every summer, the incidence rate of syphilis increases
From January to September this year, the incidence rate of syphilis in Zhejiang Province was 26890 cases. From January to June, tuberculosis ranked first and syphilis ranked second. However, since July, syphilis has surpassed tuberculosis cases for three consecutive months, ranking first.
For many years, syphilis has basically ranked first or second among Class B infectious diseases in Zhejiang Province. However, since 2011, the incidence rate of syphilis in Zhejiang Province has not increased significantly, but has gradually declined. The incidence rate in 2011 was 79.2012 The incidence rate of 95/100000 was 625.4/100000, which was 17% lower than that in 2011. In 2013, 31821 syphilis cases were reported in the province, with a incidence rate of 58.10/100000, a decrease of 7.11% compared with 2012.
From a monitoring perspective, the number of syphilis reports in Zhejiang Province in the second and third quarters of each year is higher than in the first and fourth quarters. Due to the close correlation between syphilis infection and unsafe behavior, the probability of unsafe behavior in the second and third quarters is higher than in the first and fourth quarters. Therefore, the increase of incidence rate from July to September is a normal fluctuation in the short term.
How to diagnose the latent period of syphilis?
1. Dark field microscopy examination
Dark vision microscopy is a method of examining Treponema pallidum. Dark vision, as the name suggests, lacks bright light under a microscope, making it easy to examine pale spirochetes. This is a pathogen test that is of great significance for the diagnosis of early syphilis.
2. Syphilis serological testing
Syphilis serological examination is of great significance in determining the development and rehabilitation of secondary and tertiary syphilis, as well as the efficacy of drugs. Syphilis serological examination includes non syphilis spirochete serological examination and syphilis spirochete serological examination. The former is commonly used for clinical screening and judgment of treatment effectiveness. The result can be obtained within 1 hour after blood sampling, with low cost. The latter is mainly used for judging experiments, but cannot determine the therapeutic effect. Once suffering from syphilis, the test will be positive for life.
