Does testicular size affect fertility? Recommend three methods for measuring testicular size
For most people, the focus of attention on the reproductive organs is mainly on the issue of penis size, with few people paying attention to testicular size. The only male friends who are most concerned about testicular size in clinical practice are those who have been married for many years and cannot have children. They are told that they suffer from male infertility, so many men ask if their testicles are fully developed. In order to make more male friends or normal people understand this common sense, the following is an answer to the relevant questions. Introduction to selecting some commonly used inspection methods:
1. Dimensioning method
This method is not limited by conditions and the results are correct, but it takes time. When measuring, use a caliper to measure the length, width, and thickness of the testicles, and calculate the volume of the testicles according to the formula.
Testicular volume (ml)=length diameter (cm) × Width diameter (cm) × Thickness diameter (cm) × six
2. Testicular model comparison method. Also known as the measurer comparison method. Based on the pre calculated volume, create oval shaped hard objects with different volumes and similar testicular shapes, with size labels ranging from 1 to 25 days. During the measurement, raise the testicles, tighten the scrotal skin, and compare the measuring piece (i.e. testicular model, purchased in the medical machinery market) with the testicles. The measuring piece volume that is similar in size to the testicles can be considered as the testicular volume.
3. Drainage measurement method. This is an early method of use. When measuring, pull down the measured testicles, take warm water (around 25 ℃) and place it in a graduated container, and completely immerse the pulled down testicles in the water. The milliliter increase in water volume after soaking the testicles is used as the volume of the testicles. Due to inconvenient clinical use, this method is now less commonly used.
It is worth pointing out that there is a significant difference in testicular volume in normal men, and there are also certain differences in testicular volumes on both sides of the same individual. Therefore, the measured results can only be used as a reference. The judgment of testicular development and fertility should be combined with other examination results, and a comprehensive analysis should be conducted to draw a conclusion.
The testicular volume (size measurement method) of Chinese adult males is (13.1 ± 3.6) ml on the left side and (13.6 ± 4.2) ml on the right side at the age of 19-23, (13.6 ± 4.2) ml on the left side and (14.4 ± 4.5) ml on the right side at the age of 24-45. The above is for reference only.
Generally speaking, as long as the testicle size is within the normal range and its endocrine function is normal, it will not affect sexual activity. Clinical investigations have found that it is also rare for individuals with testicular size less than 8 days to have their function affected. So, generally don't worry too much about the testicles.
