Does nipple retraction have an impact on the body? How to perform nipple retraction surgery
The situation of nipple retraction is also common in daily life. We should pay attention to it, clarify its harm to us, and in severe cases, timely examination and reasonable treatment should be carried out.
The hazards of nipple retraction
1. Breast retraction affects lactation function: During pregnancy, new breast milk secretes milk, breast dilation, nipple retraction further worsens, and lactation is difficult.
2. The nipple depression affects sexual desire: The nipple is a very important sensitive point for women, and many women's sexual desire is achieved through nipple stimulation. If the nipple is sunken, it is difficult to exert effective sexual stimulation and can also affect male sexual desire.
3. Dented nipples can easily cause mastitis: Dented nipples are located under the areola skin and do not protrude from the areola plane, making it difficult to clean locally. Dented areas are prone to hiding dirt and often causing local infections. Breast ducts pass through the recessed areas and inflammation spreads to the breast, causing mastitis
4. Impact on breast aesthetics: nipple retraction damages women's chest health, losing the proper curve, and affecting breast aesthetics.
5. Impact on patients' mental health: long-term anxiety, lack of confidence in one's own body, and serious impact on women's mental health.
Surgical treatment of inverted nipple
1. Reconstruction of nipple using flap method. This method provides a large amount of tissue, good blood circulation, good sensation recovery, and can maintain a certain height and straightness of the nipple. It can also be filled with dermal scar tissue and tissue substitutes to increase the protrusion of the nipple.
2. If one side of the nipple and areola is insufficient, and the other side of the nipple and areola are intact, the larger one can cut off half of the fold, suture, and rebuild the healthy side nipple and areola, and rebuild the insufficient side nipple and areola.
3. Papillary reduction surgery generally includes reduction surgery for nipple length, reduction surgery for nipple thickness, correction surgery for loose nipple, correction surgery for uneven nipple shape and asymmetry on both sides, etc. The surgical site is numb. The incision removes excess nipple tissue around the circumference of the nipple base or nipple cylinder, sutures, and generally covers with gauze for 7-8 days after surgery.
4. When the bilateral nipple and areola are missing, it is acceptable to transplant the earlobe, auricle skin, and cartilage of the regenerated nipple from the labia minora and toe belly. The skin of the areola is then tattooed with a tan dye needle to form a similar areola, which is consistent with the color of the healthy nipple and areola. Alternatively, the skin of the inner thigh is transplanted to the areola, which is combined with sunlight ultraviolet rays to further deepen the skin color
