Most men don't like to see a doctor. They always think they have nothing wrong. However, statistics show that 80% of the patients with serious diseases have missed the best treatment opportunity because of minor diseases. So what common diseases should we be careful about?
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Our body structure is not suitable for performing precise mechanical actions for a long time as many of our work. If you use the computer for a long time and repeatedly tap the keyboard and move the mouse every day, you may suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome if your hands, wrists, arms and even shoulders are in a tense state for a long time.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by the compression of the median nerve from the arm to the finger at the wrist. The thumb, index finger and middle finger, the three fingers "commanded" by the median nerve, will first produce pain and numbness. But most men ignore the pain. Although carpal tunnel syndrome is not a major problem, if it is ignored for a long time, it may cause nerve damage, palm blackening and muscle necrosis.
High risk population: Carpal tunnel syndrome has the highest incidence rate among occupations requiring wrist force and repetitive movements. Computer operators, cooks, carpenters and artists are all high risk groups of this disease. Statistics show that the incidence rate of women is higher than that of men, but considering that men may only go to the doctor when the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome become very serious, some experts say that the incidence rate of men is underestimated.
Symptoms: The typical manifestation of carpal tunnel syndrome is numbness and pain in the wrist, palm, thumb, index finger and middle finger, or accompanied by inflexibility and weakness in manual operation.
Diagnosis and treatment: If you have the above symptoms, you should see a doctor in time. For patients with mild early symptoms, rest is the most important. When necessary, plaster splints can be used to fix the wrist and straighten it. In severe cases, carpal tunnel incision is required for treatment.
Men should be strong, but that doesn't mean they should ignore physical pain. Experts suggest that a physical examination should be carried out at least once a year, and when you feel pain in any part of the body, you should consult a doctor, so that most diseases can be found and cured in time.
hypertension
Hypertension is a silent killer, often causing complications of heart, brain, kidney and other organs, and seriously endangering human health. Unless you measure blood pressure regularly, you may not know that you have high blood pressure before it causes serious harm to your body.
Blood pressure includes systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Systolic pressure refers to the lateral pressure of blood on the blood vessel wall when the heart is contracting; Diastolic pressure refers to the lateral pressure on the blood vessel wall when the heart is relaxing. The blood pressure standard recommended by the World Health Organization is that the systolic blood pressure of normal adults should be less than or equal to 140mmHg, and the diastolic blood pressure should be less than or equal to 90mmHg. Recently, some studies have shown that blood pressure of 140/90mmHg is also harmful to health, so some experts suggest that the standard for defining normal blood pressure should be reduced to 120/80mmHg.
