Can excessive foreskin lead to partner infection with Candida? The two major functions of the foreskin cannot be ignored
The foreskin is the skin of the penis that folds into a double layer of skin at the head of the penis. It's not a physical problem, it's now proven to have important physiological effects.
Foreskin function
1. Protective function: Just like the eyelids protecting the eyes, the foreskin protects the glans penis, keeping it soft, moist, and sensitive, while maintaining a certain temperature of the glans penis, regulating pH balance and cleaning effect.
2. Immune function: the prepuce gland and the prepuce mucosa plasma cell can secrete lysozyme, Langshao cells, immunoglobulin and other anti bacteria and virus components to prevent infection.
Many people have a longer foreskin during infancy and cannot expose the glans and urethral opening, which is called "physiological phimosis". As puberty develops, the penis grows and lengthens, and the foreskin naturally retracts, exposing the glans penis and urethral opening. Therefore, most children do not need to rush to undergo circumcision surgery. After adulthood, the foreskin opening is still narrow, and the foreskin adheres to the glans penis. The foreskin cannot expose the urethral opening and glans penis, which can be diagnosed as phimosis. Although the foreskin can be turned up to expose the glans, the foreskin opening is very small and covers the external opening of the urethra, which is called "foreskin too long".
Generally speaking, phimosis requires surgical treatment, and excessive foreskin may vary depending on the situation. The frequent reproduction of bacteria causes balanitis, and the secretion and accumulation seriously form smegma. If necessary, surgical treatment will be performed. Long term chronic inflammation and smegma stimulation will induce serious lesions. For married men, having a long foreskin may also lead to partner infection with Candida, leading to gynecological diseases such as vaginitis and cervicitis. This situation should also be treated as soon as possible.
