An Yixuan Suspects Ectopic Pregnancy Surgery to Protect Life! Does ectopic pregnancy require surgical removal of the fallopian tubes
Recently, Taiwanese media reported that celebrity An Yixuan sought medical attention due to abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding. The doctor diagnosed her as life-threatening and underwent emergency surgery to protect her life. An Yixuan did not disclose to the media what the disease was. According to relevant personnel, An Yixuan underwent emergency surgery due to ectopic pregnancy.
Ectopic pregnancy is indeed very dangerous. Under normal circumstances, sperm and eggs form a fertilized egg and swim to the uterus for implantation. However, if the fertilized egg is mistakenly transplanted onto a narrow fallopian tube, it can cause ectopic pregnancy. As the fertilized egg develops, the fallopian tube ruptures and bleeds, threatening the life of the pregnant woman. Therefore, if you have an ectopic pregnancy, you must go to the hospital as soon as possible. Many netizens ask whether ectopic pregnancy requires surgery? Under what circumstances will ectopic pregnancy occur? Can eating emergency contraception lead to ectopic pregnancy? Listen to Dr. Long Tengfei from the Gynecology Department of Sun Yat sen Memorial Hospital at Sun Yat sen University.
Does ectopic pregnancy require removal of the fallopian tubes?
Ectopic pregnancy can be divided into surgical treatment and medication treatment, and medication treatment must first meet four conditions:
1. The primary condition for drug treatment is that the ectopic pregnancy mass is not ruptured, bleeding after rupture, and is not suitable
2. There are also requirements for the size of the block, which is less than 4 centimeters
3. Blood test for bleeding with HCG below 2000 units per liter
4. Patient is not allergic to medication or has normal liver and kidney function
Surgical treatment includes conservative fallopian tube preservation and radical fallopian tube resection, regardless of which option is chosen, it is determined based on the patient's specific situation. If the patient's fallopian tube has already ruptured, there is already bleeding in the abdominal cavity, or there is water accumulation, obstruction, or other pathological changes in the fallopian tube, then the function of the fallopian tube has been lost. In this case, preserving the fallopian tube will be more harmful than beneficial, and the risk of ectopic pregnancy in the patient is 5-7 times higher than in normal individuals. So in this situation, it is recommended to perform salpingectomy.
What are the causes of ectopic pregnancy?
Dr. Long Tengfei from the Department of Gynecology at Sun Yat sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat sen University emphasized that the occurrence of tubal pregnancy is related to two reasons: firstly, abnormal anatomy of the fallopian tube, and secondly, abnormal function of the fallopian tube. What is the function of the fallopian tube? The fallopian tube needs to be kept unobstructed because it needs to have the function of "picking up eggs". In addition, the fallopian tube also needs to reverse the formation of fertilized eggs into the uterine cavity. Once a woman is infected with inflammation, problems such as adhesions and blockage of the fallopian tubes can occur. The fertilized egg cannot reach the uterine cavity smoothly after reaching the fallopian tubes, but stays in the fallopian tubes, which can easily lead to ectopic pregnancy. Another common situation is that external factors such as drug stimulation, loss of peristalsis function of the fallopian tubes, and the tendency of fertilized eggs to remain in the fallopian tubes, leading to ectopic pregnancy.
